TL Audio M4 tube console used to track award-winning Plan B album

A TL Audio 32-channel M4 tube console, installed at The Sanctuary Recording Studio in Battersea, London, was used to track Plan B's album "The Defamation of Strickland Banks", which recently scooped a series of awards including an MPG 2011 UK Single of the Year and three Ivor Novello Awards for Most Performed Work / She Said, Best Album and Songwriter of the Year. Sanctuary founders Eric Appapoulay and David McEwan co-produced, engineered and mixed album tracks, including the award-winning single, in collaboration with Ben Drew (Plan B).

The M4 tube console was mainly used for tracking drums, guitars and vocals during the album recording sessions in 2010. Sanctuary's David McEwan explained: "We do a lot of live instrument tracking, particularly drums, bass, and guitars. The M4 really suited the sound we were after, particularly on the Plan B album. We initially had a smaller version of the console on loan and were impressed with its natural warm sound, so we decided to purchase a 32-channel version for the studio."
