Renowned UK reggae producer Curtis Lynch Jnr. has been making music for the last 10 years. His CV reads like a ‘best of?album and includes many household names like Gorrillaz, Shola Ama, Collie Buds, Alicia Keys, Red Rat and Tippa Irie.
Hailing from North West London and growing up listening to the likes of Gregory Isaacs and Shabba Ranks, Curtis soon realised he wanted to be a part of the music he had grown to love. Starting off involved in the big reggae sound-systems as a DJ, Curtis soon turned to production and got his first deal in 1997.
Now an accomplished producer with hits world wide, Curtis still likes to keep his set up simple. Armed with his Apple Macbook, Logic 7, MOTU interface and Mackie HR824 speakers, there is only one other piece of kit he added to complete his ‘beat factory?
That piece of kit was the Ivory 5051.
Curtis commented, “I use the 5051 mainly for mono signals such as a lead vocal, bass lines and of course drums. The warmth and good presence that this machine generates is second to none. The style of music that I do requires edge and this is what I like about the 5051 because it’s almost impossible for it to distort your music. Whether it’s the EQ, compressor or the gate or all at the same time you can push it to a limit where other machines cant handle it.?br />
