The latest visitor to sit behind the TL Audio VTC console at London’s Earthworks Studios has been Gordon Raphael - producer of The Strokes?hugely successful ‘Is This It?album. Gordon has been working on tracks with UK outfit Big Sur and taking advantage of Earthworks recently installed 16 channel VTC - supplied by Barnet dealer Digital Village. The VTC - which replaced the studio’s previous analogue console - has been partnering a Logic 5 / MOTU 1224 system running off a Mac G4.

Earthworks has been running as a commercial studio for around 8 years, and has been busy recently with projects for clients such as Polydor and Ministry of Sound, as well as heavy involvement with numerous Garage and R n B productions, with their own ‘Jack’s House?track scoring notable success as a private release. The connection with Raphael was made through ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown, who had previously worked with Raphael at his studio in New York, and who like Big Sur is managed by Steve Lowe.

Earthworks owner Phil Nelson commented:
“The VTC has easily been the best equipment purchase I’ve made since setting up Earthworks - it’s brought me so much work, since customers are intrigued to find out just how much difference it makes to the sound - and I can honestly say that whatever you put through it comes out sounding absolutely superb.”
